Dinkum Multiplayer: Host Rules, Players and Saves

Dinkum supports online co-op on Steam; KRAFTON's PC multiplayer FAQ describes a host plus up to five visitors. Nintendo lists two to four players over local wireless or online on Switch. KRAFTON says Steam-to-Switch cross-play has no current plan, so choose the same platform before planning an island together.

01

Know the officially listed play modes

Steam lists online co-op for the PC release, and KRAFTON's PC FAQ describes a host plus up to five visitors. Nintendo lists one player on a single system, and two to four through local wireless or online play on Switch. Those are platform-specific statements, not one universal player limit. The host starts a multiplayer game and visitors bring a character with their own inventory.

The PC FAQ says visitors can take items home after a session, and the world remains active while the host plays. The 2023 Summer Sun patch increased PC multiplayer to six and introduced proximity chat. Nintendo's store listing does not promise every PC session feature on Switch. Check the store page for the platform you actually plan to use before inviting friends.

02

Plan what you want to do together

KRAFTON's FAQ says only the host can place or move buildings, activate the Deep Mines elevator with the party inside and advance town quests. Visitors can build relationships with townsfolk and receive requests. Earnings are not pooled, but guests can help pay town debt. Agree on a shared goal while keeping those ownership rules in mind.

The 1.0 patch refined host-controlled permissions for opening containers, picking up items and editing the island. Returning visitors may keep previously assigned permissions. A 2025 FAQ and a newer patch therefore describe different layers of the same co-op workflow. Check the current host settings before assuming a particular guest can modify the town.

03

Check platform-specific unknowns before buying

KRAFTON explicitly says Steam-to-Switch cross-play has no current plan. It describes cross-save as a future plan rather than a working feature. Nintendo's local wireless support is not proof of split-screen on one system. If either feature is essential to your group, check a newer official statement before buying.

Steam and Switch updates can arrive at different times, according to KRAFTON. The 2026 Switch update changed which PC content had reached the console. Check the version, session permissions and mode before promising that two players can follow the same tutorial. A verified date for live cross-save remains 待确认 here.
