You can explore different environments to encounter insects, while seasons and weather affect the wider island. A claim that every named species appears in one specific place at a fixed hour needs more evidence than these general descriptions.

The 2026 update mentions a Bug Book and changes its effective range. That confirms the book exists, but not a complete catalogue of spawn windows. Use the current game view to record what you have actually found rather than presenting a guessed species chart.

The 1.0 patch added a Bug Terrarium. Place butterflies, moths or spiders inside and the terrarium produces cocoons, according to the official notes. Put cocoons into a spinning wheel to make silk.

The patch states that the terrarium recipe unlocks at Bug Catching level 30. This is a concrete condition, unlike any unverified claim about a species-specific daily catch quota. The same release also added several new villager and house systems, so confirm you are looking at a post-1.0 guide when comparing instructions.

The Great Bite patch introduced the Critter Book for aquatic creatures and the ability to display critters in tanks. It describes that book as similar to existing specimen books, not as a replacement for the Bug Book. A water critter should therefore not be silently counted as a bug in a catch list.
